BLACKSBURG – For the third straight game at English Field at Union Park, Notre Dame took an early lead on Virginia Tech, but this time the Hokies were able to get back to within a run before dropping the final game of the three-game ACC baseball series to the Fighting Irish on Saturday afternoon, 5-2.
Jon Woodcock allowed single runs in the first, second and third, but settled in and threw the next five frames scoreless. Behind a two-run fifth, Tech made it a 3-2 contest before the Irish put the game away with two runs in the ninth.
