Tech taken down by Liberty in midweek tilt

Tom Stoffel with two hits, two RBIs in runaway contest

BLACKSBURG – Liberty jumped out to an early 13-run advantage after its first three at-bats then cruised to a 22-7 victory over the Virginia Tech baseball team on Tuesday night in a nonconference game at English Field.

Tom Stoffel and Ryan Tufts each drove in a pair of runs, while Saige Jenco crossed the plate two times to lead the Hokies attack.

Liberty starter Geoffrey Murphy (1-1) picked up the win, while the Hokies’ Andrew McDonald suffered the loss and is now 1-2 on the year.
