BLACKSBURG – The visiting Miami Hurricanes jumped out to an early five-run lead after the first inning Saturday afternoon and then used a seven-run seventh to put the game out of reach as they defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies, 16-4, in Game 2 of a three-game ACC series at English Field at Union Park.
Tom Stoffel had two hits for the Hokies, including his 10tth double of the season, and JD Mundy hit his seventh home run of the year to lead the Tech offense.
Miami (24-25, 13-13 ACC) used a two-run home run by Tony Jenkins and a three-RBI double from Michael Amditis to open the day’s scoring in the top of the first inning.
