Sediva wins bronze medal at World University Games

The Czech Republic native, who won the national title back in June, sets a school and ACC record en route to claiming third

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech track athlete Irena Sediva finished in third place in the javelin throw Sunday at the World University Games being held in Gwangju, South Korea.

Sediva, a rising junior from the Czech Republic, came in third with a toss of 196 feet, 5.8 inches (59.89 meters), which came on the first of her six attempts. She broke her own school and ACC record of 192 feet, 9 inches that she set when she won the national championship at the 2015 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships held in Eugene, Oregon, in mid-June.
