Despite 19 hits in second, Hokies can't sweep doubleheader over Duke
BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech pitcher Kit Scheetz hurled the first complete game of his Tech career and struck out a season-high eight batters as the Hokies won the first game of an ACC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at English Field at Union Park over Duke, 3-2, in walk-off fashion.
However, both teams registered 19 hits in the second game of the day and the Blue Devils were able to avoid the sweep and won the second game, 19-9.
