Drew Piazza and Hanna Green, two Virginia Tech track and field standouts who recently concluded their collegiate careers at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, both advanced to the semifinals of their respective events at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships being held at Sacramento State University in Sacramento, California.
Piazza, who finished sixth in the men’s 800-meter run at the NCAA meet, was seventh overall following the first round of the 800 on Thursday. The Danvers, Massachusetts native finished fourth in his heat with a time of 1 minute, 47.11 seconds.
