The No. 3 Virginia Tech Hokies traveled to Charlottesville this past Sunday for the ACC Wrestling Championships. Also in attendance were No. 8 N.C. State Wolfpack, No. 11 North Carolina Tar Heels, No. 21 Duke Blue Devils, Virginia Cavaliers, and the Pittsburgh Panthers.
The Hokies had a solid effort and sent seven to the finals round, which was the most by any participant. No. 1 seed at 125, Joey Dance, defeated NCSU’s No. 2 seed, Sean Fausz, 5-1. At 184 pounds, No. 1 seed Zack Zavatsky defeated another Wolfpack athlete, No. 2 seed Pete Renda, 5-2. With those victories Zavatsky and Dance earned ACC titles for their respective weight classes.
