BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team rallied from a 17-point deficit in the third quarter but ultimately fell to No. 17/17 Miami on Thursday night in Cassell Coliseum, 57-45.
Tech was down 40-23 with 4:31 remaining in third quarter but staged a furious comeback to tie the game at 40-40 in the fourth quarter with 8:12 remaining. The tie was a result of a 17-0 run that spanned 4:54 and carried from the third to the fourth quarter.
A couple of costly turnovers by the Hokies gave Miami the opportunity to reclaim the lead with a 10-1 run to go on top 50-41 with just 2:47 left in the fourth quarter.
