BLACKSBURG – Behind a strong starting pitching performance by Ian Seymour and a nine-run fifth frame, the Maroon squad took care of Game 1 of the Virginia Tech Baseball Maroon and Orange World Series by a count of 11-3 Thursday night at English Field at Union Park.
Seymour faced the minimum over three frames, allowing just a single walk in the first inning, which was erased on the first of two double plays turned by Maroon in the contest. In all, Seymour struck out four and allowed just one ball out of the infield.
