BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team used a 27-point third quarter run to overpower the Presbyterian Blue Hose in the Hokies season-opener on Friday night, 58-44.
Vanessa Panousis and Regan Magarity jump-started the Hokies offensively in the third quarter as the team, trailing by two, outscored the Blue Hose 27-11. The team finished the first half on a 7-2 run and extended it at a 27-5 run midway through the third quarter to take the lead for good.
During the run, Tech held Presbyterian scoreless for over six minutes and the Blue Hose never came within double-digits for the remainder of the contest.
