Tech had tying run on board in eighth and ninth, but Bobcats hold on and avoid series sweep
BLACKSBURG – Looking to sweep a four-game series for the first time since the 2012 season, Virginia Tech held an early 2-1 advantage, but the visiting Quinnipiac Bobcats exploited several Hokie errors and were able to hold on late for a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon at English Field.
The final three runs the Bobcats scored were all unearned as Tech committed a team-high four errors in the game. However, in the eighth and ninth, the Hokies had runners at first and second with no outs, but Quinnipiac ended both threats with double plays to get the win.
