BLACKSBURG – Trailing 3-0 in the fifth, the Virginia Tech baseball team used a Hurricane error to plate two runs, but the Hokies would get no closer and No. 5 Miami took the game and won the ACC series with a 7-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at English Field.
Phil Sciretta knocked home Grant Maiorana for the only Tech RBI of the contest in the fifth inning, while Saige Jenco scored earlier in the frame on the Miami miscue.
Miami’s Danny Garcia threw seven innings and struck out seven to improve to 3-1 on the season, while Tech’s Jon Woodcock (1-3) went 6.
