BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team held Boston College to just eight points in the second half as they powered past the Eagles on Sunday afternoon, 58-33 to win the ACC opener for both teams.
Tech, trailing Boston College 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, outscored the Eagles 34-12 over the second and third to take a 47-27 lead into the fourth quarter. The Hokies defense only allowed four Boston College free throws during the 17:44 stretch that lasted from 2:52 in the second quarter until 5:08 remaining in the fourth.
