BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team outscored Clemson 51-20 over the second and third quarters to pull away for a 79-49 victory on Monday night at Cassell Coliseum.
After a slow first quarter that ended with Tech trailing 10-8, the Hokies shot 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from the floor in the second while limiting the Tigers to just 2-of-9 shooting during the stanza. Tech ultimately outscored Clemson 23-5 in the second quarter to take the lead for good.
The Hokies continued to rack up points after the break as the Hokies dropped in 28 during the third quarter.
