The No. 4 seed Virginia Tech women’s soccer team will be advancing to the second round of the 2015 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championships after a 4-0 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats at Thompson Field on Saturday. With the win, Tech improves to 15-3-2 on the season.
The Hokies who led 1-0 at halftime, scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half to increase the lead 3-0. Alani Johnson had two goals on the game while Candace Cephers and Murielle Tiernan both had one a piece in the impressive 4-0 victory.
During the first half with a one goal lead, Tiernan hit a shot inside the penalty box but that shot was denied by Cincinnati goalkeeper Sam Pavlika.
