Curtin sets new Tech program record

STANFORD, Calif. - The Virginia Tech track & field team wrapped up this weekend’s competition at Stanford’s elite Payton Jordan Invitational with numerous best marks on Sunday.

Thomas Curtin led the Hokies with a school record 13:33.88-finish in the 5,000 meters. Curtin eclipsed the previous program best of 13:41.06 set in 2012 by nearly eight seconds.

Vincent Ciattei paved the way for the Hokies with a first place finish in section four of the 800 meters. His 1:49.87-time ranks him ninth in program history. Kevin Cianfarini added a personal best time in the event, clocking in at 1:51.
