GREENSBORO, N.C. – Dave Cianelli, Virginia Tech’s director of track and field and cross country, received two top ACC honors Friday, as he was named the ACC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year, while thrower Irena Sediva received the ACC Women’s Field Performer of the Year award.
The accolades were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Cianelli earned his 12th and 13th ACC Coach of the Year honors (indoor track & field, outdoor track & field and cross country). In his 16th year with the Hokies, he led his team to its second straight ACC men’s outdoor title in dramatic fashion, as Tech finished three spots ahead of rival Virginia in the final event, the 4×400 meter relay, to win the team title.
