Coach Dooley was the predecessor of Frank Beamer, and lead the Hokies from 1978-1986. During his tenure he accumulated a record of 63-38-1, and coached VPI legends, including Bruce Smith. Additionally, he brought home the program's first bowl win with a 25-24 victory over the N.
