Bibbs named state's top rookie

Hokie freshman honored by VaSID

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Virginia Tech men’s basketball player Justin Bibbs has been named University Division Men’s Basketball State Rookie of the Year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). The annual awards, which are selected by sports information and athletic communication professionals from around the Commonwealth, were announced Tuesday. The University Division covers all 14 Division I institutions in Virginia.

Bibbs, a freshman from Dayton, Ohio, was second on team in scoring at 11.4 points per game, and second in assists at 1.8 per game.
