Since 1954, the ACC Men's Basketball Tournament has been played in Washington, D.C. only one time prior to 2016.
In 2015, the ACC Tournament returns to the Verizon Center for the first time since 2005 when JJ Redick led Duke to the title over Georgia Tech. This will be the Hokies sixth trip to the DC arena as a member of the ACC having lost to Georgia Tech in that 2005 tournament, which was the Hokies inaugural ACC campaign. Historically, this conference tournament has been dominated by North Carolina based schools, which have combined for 50 championships over the 62 year history of the league.
