College football changed forever in 2017 when the NCAA instituted an early signing period for high school athletes. For years, National Signing Day was always the first Wednesday in February. There was plenty of drama over the years, but much of that drama went away with the addition of early signing day.
The Virginia Tech Hokies certainly suffered their fair share of heartbreak over the years, with several top targets heading elsewhere at the last possible minute. So, moving early signing day two months earlier was good news for Virginia Tech. It meant the Hokies didn’t have to fight off other schools for two months.
