The Virginia Cavaliers seem to actually have an opponent for their opening two games after a lot of confusion and changes over the past few days. Virginia is currently in Uncasville, Connecticut, participating in a multi-team event in “Bubbleville” at the Mohegan Sun. Originally, the Hoos were supposed to open this COVID-delayed season with games against Maine and Florida.
Florida had to pause all basketball activities after an outbreak within their program, so they withdrew from the event. Shortly after, Maine had to withdraw for the same reason. After a lot of back and forth and hypothesizing as to who Virginia would play, things were figured out Tuesday night.
