The National Lacrosse League (NLL) - the professional indoor lacrosse league - held their 2017 draft Monday night, with former UVA lacrosse standout Zed Williams going fourth overall to the Georgia Swarm.
The Swarm are reigning NLL Champions, having defeated the Saskatchewan Rush 15-14 last season. Williams played four games this past summer with the Rochester Rattlers in the pro outdoor league, Major League Lacrosse (MLL). He finished with seven goals on 12 shots, including an overtime game-winner in his first game.
Zed finished his Virginia career with 75 goals and 56 assists for 131 points. A native of Irving, New York, Zed’s path was different than a lot of the players who came before him through Charlottesville.
