After finally returning with his team from California, where both Virginia and Maryland baseball won their respective Regionals, head coach Brian O'Connor expressed his disappointment with the entire situation. The two squads, who face each other in the Super Regionals this weekend, were forced to share the NCAA-chartered flight back to the east coast, which was delayed from the get-go.
"But quite frankly," O'Connor said, "I'm disappointed on what happened. I'm not going to ever make any kind of excuse, but I don't think it's certainly in the 'student-athlete welfare' category. The NCAA tends to use that term when it's convenient for them.
