The 2024-25 Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball season has come to an end as has Ron Sanchez’s tenure as the program’s interim head coach. For the first time in sixteen years, the administration will be conducting an open search for the next leader in Charlottesville.
The name that has been thrown around the most since Tony Bennett stepped down in October has been Ryan Odom.
Who is Ryan Odom?
Odom is currently the head coach at VCU, where he has compiled a 49-20 (71.0%) in two seasons at the helm. His current Commodores team finished first in the Atlantic 10 regular season race and is poised to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, with chances at either an at-large or automatic bid.
