The Virginia Cavaliers entered the weekend as winners of four straight and continued that momentum by taking Friday’s series opener at NC State. However, the pitching could not hold up in the proceeding two contests, and the Wolfpack ultimately won the weekend. UVA now sits at 7-8 in ACC play and 17-13 overall.

Jay Woolfolk took the bump for the Friday game once again, and had what has become a rather typical of outing for him. The senior right-hander failed to reach the five innings threshold, but battled through adversity and limited the overall damage.
