UVA women’s soccer is well represented at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, with Morgan Brian and Becky Sauerbrunn both starting and coach Steve Swanson an assistant. And the Hoos wasted no time getting involved in these games.
In the 46th minute of Team USA’s opening match against New Zealand, Brian found Alex Morgan free in the box to put the Americans up 2-0.
The U.S. would win by that same 2-0 score. Brian was subbed out for Lindsey Horan in the 64th minute.
Morgan, Becky, and the rest of the USWNT return to action on Saturday at 4 PM, taking on France in group play.
