Just over a week after he experienced heartbreak in California, UVA golfer Ben James has qualified to be part of the 2024 U.S. Open field held at Pinehurst.
James was assessed a one-stroke penalty in the first round of the NCAA Championships over Memorial Weekend, and it ended up costing him a chance at a playoff to take home the hardware as he missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the last green to tie Georgia Tech’s, Hiroshi Tai.
