Ryan Dunn is officially headed to the NBA. The athletic sophomore from Freeport, N.Y., heard his name called in the opening round of the 2024 NBA Draft on Wednesday night as the Phoenix Suns selected Dunn with the 28th overall pick (via a trade with the Denver Nuggets). Dunn is the first ‘Hoo to be drafted since the New Orleans Pelicans selected Trey Murphy III in the first round of the 2021 draft.
A high-flying 6’8” forward, Dunn came to the Virginia Cavaliers as a three-star prospect and the least heralded member of a 2022 UVA recruiting class that included Isaac Traudt, Leon Bond, and Isaac McKneely.
