The US Open first round kicks off Monday at 11am (ET), and you may see a couple faces you recognize. Thai Kwiatkowski and J.C. Aragone will both participate in the main draw of the men’s singles championship, the first time that Virginia has had two players in the event. Both Kwiatkowski and Aragone graduated in the spring after helping the Hoos to their third straight national championship.
Kwiatkowski, by virtue of being the 2017 NCAA singles champion, earned an automatic bid into the main draw of the event. The draw was announced today, matching the Virginia alum with Mischa Zverev (GER), the #27 player in the world (yikes).
