The Virginia Cavaliers’ ACC Tournament run came to an end on Thursday evening as the 10th-seeded ’Hoos fell to the 7th-seeded California Golden Bears, 75-58, inside the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro.
Though it was a disappointing end to Virginia’s week, it doesn’t take away from the fact that the ’Hoos earned their first conference tournament win since 2019 yesterday, beating Pittsburgh 64-50.
Here are three takeaways from Thursday’s contest, one that hopefully won’t be the last time we see the ’Hoos on the court this season.
Cal took advantage of Virginia’s tired legs
The Golden Bears were very deliberate in pushing the pace on Thursday, taking advantage of the fact that the ’Hoos were playing on back-to-back days.
