Sometimes a sports story comes along that puts all of the others into perspective. The Washington Post provided some sad perspective this morning with a heartbreaking story on former Virginia women's basketball star Schuye LaRue and her descent into homelessness. Kudos to Post writer Terrence McCoy for writing such a poignant piece, which can be found here.
LaRue was a promising talent for Debbie Ryan's Lady Cavaliers at the turn of the century. McCoy's piece discussed her going toe-to-toe in a pick-up game with former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw. Sadly, LaRue now suffers from schizophrenia and psychotic disorder.
