Virginia Football will need to find a new team to play to open the season as VMI and the Southern Conference (SoCon) have postponed sports for the fall as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Cavaliers and Keydets were scheduled to play in Charlottesville on Friday, September 11.
“We support and respect the SoCon decision regarding fall sports,” VMI Athletics Director Dr. Dave Diles said in the official SoCon release. “The health and safety of our cadet-athletes and staff is our top priority as we deal with this pandemic. We will focus our efforts to an efficient and orderly transition to spring 2021 competition.
