The Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team (8-6) is headed to The Golden State for its first ever ACC matchup against the California Golden Bears (7-7). It’s the first of two games for the ’Hoos out west, followed by a trip to Stanford on Saturday.
Virginia has struggled out of the gate in ACC play (1-2 record), suffering an embarrassing blowout loss against Louisville this past Saturday, 70-50, to start the new year. Fortunately, Cal has been through the wringer itself, with an 0-3 ACC record including back-to-back double-digit losses to Pittsburgh and Clemson.
Ron Sanchez’s Cavaliers desperately need to string together some wins, and there may not be a better opportunity for consecutive wins than this stretch against Cal and Stanford.
