Two weeks ago, the Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team (12-12, 5-8) lost in devastating fashion, 75-74, to their rival the Virginia Tech Hokies (11-13, 6-7). Andrew Rohde was inches away from hitting a game-winning shot, but it was UVA’s substandard defense that lost them the game. They allowed the Hokies to hit 11 threes and shoot 52% from the field.
It seemed like the type of defeat that would lead to the team basically giving up for the rest of the season, realizing they were likely going to miss the ACC Tournament so they’d just be half-heartedly going through the motions.
