The Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team (6-4) is in dire need of a marquee win before the new year, and they’ve got an excellent opportunity against the No. 21 Memphis Tigers (8-2) in John Paul Jones Arena on Wednesday evening. Although many students will be back with their families for winter break, UVA’s home court advantage should still boost their chances of pulling off the upset.
Memphis went on a surprising run in the Maui Invitational earlier this year, knocking off the defending champs, UConn, as well as Michigan State before falling to Auburn in the finals.
