The Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team is coming off another defeating loss against a Top 25 team. After hanging with Florida for about ten minutes, the Gators lit up Virginia’s defense en route to an 87-69 win. Florida’s star point guard Walter Clayton Jr. led all scorers with 27 points (5/12 from three).
Elijah Saunders was one of the only bright spots for the ‘Hoos, scoring 19 points on 6/12 shooting. Turnovers continue to be an issue (Virginia had 15), and this roster has some athletic shortcomings that reveal themselves against Top 25 teams.
Fortunately, being thrown into the fire with a tough non-conference schedule should prepare the team for ACC play.
