The Washington Capitals have moved up the start time of Friday’s game to 5 p.m. at Verizon Center in advance of the forecasted weekend snowstorm and Metro closures. The game against the Anaheim Ducks was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.
Metro bus service will be stopped Friday at 5 p.m.; rail service will be suspended at 11 p.m. Officials said buses and trains will not resume until at least Monday morning.
The Capitals have not made a decision on Sunday’s 12:30 p.m. game at Verizon against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Elsewhere, teams at all levels across the Washington area scrambled to reschedule games in advance of the storm.
