Down four in the second half with 18 minutes to play, Virginia fifth year senior Jack Salt tracked down an offensive rebound off of one of Kyle Guy’s two misses from three. In the corner, Salt looked up, assessed the court, and made his move. The 6-10, 250 pounder had space, driving the ball down the baseline. NC State’s Wyatt Walker came over to contest Salt, who somehow got the up-and-under shot to fall through the foul.
Salt went to the free throw line and canned it, bringing Virginia within one.
NC State would respond with a three to push the lead back to four before De’Andre Hunter connected on two free throws to make it a 34-32 Wolfpack lead with just over 17 minutes remaining in the ACC tournament quarterfinal matchup.
