“I wanted to see three things,” said Virginia Cavaliers Head Coach Tony Elliott after UVA’s 43-24 rout of Coastal Carolina on Saturday. “I wanted us to be complimentary. I wanted us to play clean. And I wanted us to take the ball away.”
Coming off a disheartening home loss to Maryland seven days prior, an impassioned Cavalier squad bounced back in a big way on the Chanticleers’ teal turf while checking all three of Coach Elliott’s boxes to improve to 3-1 on the season (UVA’s best start to a season since 2019).
The biggest play of the contest was arguably its first, as on the Cavaliers’ opening kickoff, safety Landon Danley flew in to force a fumble and UVA’s Eli Wood came up with the recovery.
