Four takeaways from UVA women’s basketball’s loss to No. 22 Florida State

The Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team fell back to .500 on Thursday inside John Paul Jones Arena after a 101-68 beatdown at the hands of the No. 22 Florida State Seminoles.

Since a promising four-game stretch to begin 2025, the ’Hoos have now lost five of their last six games and find themselves with a 4-8 record in ACC play.

As the Cavaliers continue to search for a signature win to pin on the top of their resume, here are four takeaways from UVA’s letdown home loss:

Virginia started slow

The ’Hoos were outscored 26-9 in a lackadaisical first quarter in which they missed their first six shots from the floor, went just 3-of-18 from the field overall, and turned the ball over seven times.
