The Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team ended its regular season in spectacular fashion on Sunday afternoon, stunning the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels, 78-75, in Chapel Hill.
Despite trailing by as many as 18 points late in the first half, a 7-0 Cavalier run heading into halftime sparked a dominant second-half performance in which UVA outscored the Tar Heels by 14.
Sunday’s win marks the first for UVA in Chapel Hill since January of 2001, ending a streak of 16-straight road losses to the Tar Heels. It’s also the Cavaliers’ first road win over a top-10 team since a November, 2008, victory over No.
