Class of 2016 four-star power forward Mamadi Diakite, out of Blue Ridge School in St. George, Virginia, has decided to head 21 miles south to Charlottesville and play for the Virginia Cavaliers. Diakite’s decision was reported by Jamie Oakes of 247 Sports, just one day after he helped Team Africa finish third in the Adidas Nations.
Diakite also suggested that there was an “80 percent chance” that he re-classified to the Class of 2015 and took summer classes before redshirting for the 2015-16 season. If he chooses to stay at Blue Ridge and wait until next year, he will join a recruiting class that also features four-star talents in New York’s Ty Jerome and Indiana’s Kyle Guy.
