Five takeaways from UVA basketball’s 75-74 loss to Virginia Tech

The Virginia Cavaliers (10-12) suffered a heartbreaking 75-74 loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies (10-12) on Saturday night in John Paul Jones Arena. Despite an encouraging first half, The ‘Hoos remained in the deficit for the duration of the game, trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half.

Virginia trailed 69-63 with three minutes left, but JPJ was loud and hopeful. With the clock winding down, the ‘Hoos chipped away with two successful drives from Andrew Rohde.

With 8.7 seconds remaining, Virginia trailed 75-72 with Isaac Mckneely stepping up for two critical free throws, making it a one-point game.
