The struggles continued for the Virginia Cavaliers this past Saturday down in Dallas. The ‘Hoos dropped their conference opener for the first time since the 2007-08 season. While much of the talk coming out of the 63-51 loss is about UVA’s ineffectiveness on the offensive end (and rightfully so) the defense was able to hold the Mustangs well below their 88.3 points per game average heading into the contest. That said, Andy Enfield’s team was able to create space for good looks through repeatedly putting UVA in tough positions on picks.

UVA certainly could have played this better, but much of this one is a compliment to SMU’s superb ability to reuse picks and confuse defenses.
