Examining UVA Football’s running back situation ahead of Virginia Tech

The last home game of the season was an all too familiar one for the Virginia Cavaliers. The inability to effectively move the ball on SMU’s defense doomed the ‘Hoos early on despite a valiant effort by the defense to keep things within reach on the scoreboard.

Virginia totaled a mere 65 yards on the ground, granted that number was impacted by the nine sacks the Cavaliers allowed, UVA’s running backs still only managed 70 yards rushing. Regardless, the ‘Hoos were unable to win the line of scrimmage whatsoever with the inability to run the ball only making a bad situation worse.
