College World Series: Virginia-Texas in a weather delay

The elimination game between Virginia and Texas has been delayed due to weather. It was set to start at 7:07pm ET, but impending rain and lightning led to the NCAA choosing to hold off on the first pitch. It was not raining at the scheduled game time, but it was a good call to preserve the starting pitchers knowing that the rain was coming.

There is no current estimate for a start time for the game.

Rain started falling down heavily, followed shortly by several strikes of lighting. Per the NCAA rules, every instance of lightning within eight miles restarts a 30 minute clock before any activity can resume on the field.
