On Friday night the Cavaliers’ pitching staff held UConn to just one run on 3 hits and a walk. As good as the staff was and the bats struggled on Friday, the opposite came to fruition on Saturday with the lineup putting up more than enough runs while the pitching staff struggled to keep UConn off the basepaths.
Griff McGarry started the game for the Hoos and looked like he was going to cruise with seven strikeouts through three innings. McGarry ran into trouble in the 4th allowing the first two runs of the game and running his pitch count up.
