LAS VEGAS -- Canelo Alvarez retained his undisputed super middleweight championship on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena with a unanimous-decision victory over his rival, Gennadiy Golovkin, in a trilogy fight.
Two judges scored it 115-113, while a third judge had it 116-112 for Alvarez.
After the final bell, and 36 rounds together, the two rivals shared a long embrace, apparently ending a feud that grew personal over the years.
Golovkin, at age 40, started incredibly slow and barely threw a right hand over the first two quarters of the bout, but he came on strong late and appeared to win the final four rounds.
