The Brooklyn Nets announced Sunday evening that the team has signed forward Akil Mitchell, who will be joining his former Virginia Cavaliers teammate Joe Harris in New York.
Originally undrafted in 2014, Mitchell got his first taste of the NBA with the Houston Rockets in the NBA Summer League. The Rockets signed Mitchell in late September, but went on to waive him in November of the same year. Since then, Mitchell has bounced around with NBA D-League teams, Summer League teams, and international teams (France, New Zealand).
Since February of this year, Mitchell has been playing for the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League team.
